Called the "Oscars of the Internet," by the New York Times, WEBBYs are awarded to a select few entries each year that are carefully chosen from thousands of submissions. The awards represent the collective judgment of the Academy, a 500-member body of leading web experts, business figures and visionaries. "We're ecstatic about receiving this award," said Carrie Delente, co-founder of Enforme. "of all the awards that exist in our industry, the WEBBY is actually meaningful, and is among the highest honors in the world of on-line communication. The WEBBY judges evaluate every aspect of a site - content, structure, navigation, visual design, functionality and interactivity. Receiving the award is a recognition that the NYAS site provides an exceptional overall user experience, a goal we always work hard to achieve. It's a double honor that we've received this award for the NYAS site. NYAS was founded almost 200 years ago to promote awareness of science and technology, and its membership has included Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Margaret Mead, Albert Einstein and many Nobel laureates. NYAS is now recognized as one of the world's leading organizers of scientific conferences and symposia. We're privileged to be associated with them and to be able to share this success with them." The Academy will honor Enforme for its achievement at an awards ceremony in New York City on June 6, 2005.

The announcement came on the heels of the Health and Science Communications Association (HeSCA) decision to name Enforme the recipient of the Bronze Award for excellence for its work on the NYAS site. Said Delente, "the HeSCA award means a lot to us because HeSCA is an organization whose mission is to promote best practices for sharing scientific knowledge across multiple platforms. HeSCA recognition means the NYAS site is not only graphically appealing, but that it does an exceptional job of giving users easy access to what could otherwise be an overwhelming amount of data. It says a lot to be recognized by experts in the field who not only focus on site aesthetics, but also on how well a site meets its stated objectives."
