Prize Awarded to Recognize Sites that Meet International Academy's Standards of Excellence Frederick, MD, June 10, 2005 - Cancer Caregiving, a site designed and constructed by Frederick, MD based Enforme Interactive, has been awarded the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences WEBBY Worthy award. The award, which represents the Academy's judgment that the site meets or exceeds standards of excellence in design and usability, is the second Academy honor conferred upon Enforme for work done in the past year. Earlier this month, the company received a WEBBY award for its role in designing and building the New York Academy of Sciences Website. "This award means a lot to us," said Carrie Delente, co-founder of Enforme Interactive. "WEBBY Worthy awards are given to fewer than a fifth of the sites entered in the competition. The fact that the academy chose Cancer Caregiving for the award means industry leaders recognize the site as reflecting an outstanding caliber of work. And I can't think of a project that is more worthy of getting some attention. Cancer Caregiving is specifically designed as a support tool for people taking care of loved ones with cancer. A good network of family and friends is critical in helping a patient deal with cancer. But too often the focus is on the patient, and the caregivers' own needs take a back seat. The mission of Cancer Caregiving is to help caregivers find ways to deal with the emotional pressures caused by looking after a loved one who has cancer. Our site contains a variety of tools designed to help give some emotional and logistical support to the caregivers. We provide everything from online relaxation exercises and tips about how to ask for help to suggestions for how to have conversations about end-of-life issues. The entire site experience is very interactive and helps caregivers identify and focus in on the areas they need the most help with." Funded by the National Cancer Institute, the site was created together with Healthmark Multimedia, a company specializing in creating interactive health education materials for consumers and health care providers. With input from professional advisors from around the country, Healthmark developed the site content and Enforme performed the design and programming work. The site can be visited at www.cancercaregiving.com.
