Innovations such as advanced imaging, minimally invasive surgery, transcatheter heart valves, artificial joints, genomics and precision medicine have had a profound influence on patient care and have changed clinical care forever.
While these technologies have yielded many benefits, there have also been valid concerns about overuse, overreliance and escalating costs.
