We begin every project with a discovery phase to identify what success looks like. All of our strategy works begins with identifying the goal. Is it more users? More revenue? Higher engagement? All of the above?
Once we agree on project goals, we conduct research to determine the shortest path to achieving them, using one or more of the following:
- Interviews or focus groups with staff, volunteer leadership, and representative members
- Online surveys
- Review of existing web analytics
- Persona development
- Industry best practices
- Lessons learned from almost twenty years of designing website and applications for medical and scientific societies
Deliverables
- Research Report – a summary of our findings, along with initial recommendations
- Strategic Imperatives – a short list that describes all the things the new site must do
